GIL Express

GIL Express is a service by which you can request regularly circulating books from any University System of Georgia (USG) library and have them sent to you for pickup at the nearest USG library.

GSU Books by Mail

Books by Mail is a service for currently enrolled GSU students and graduate students not taking classes at the main downtown campus. Regularly circulating University Library books will be delivered to your home address.

To request books:

Step 1
Registration is required each semester for books by mail service. To register, send an email message from your GSU email account to Include the following information in the message:

  • Your Library ID
  • Your complete home mailing address
  • Your academic department
  • Your student status (undergraduate or graduate)

Registration messages from email addresses not ending in cannot be accepted. You will receive a confirmation email, usually within one business day.

Step 2
After registration, requests are placed through your regular ILLiad account. Please note: only regularly circulating books from the main University Library can be shipped to your home. Please check for availability.

Requested books are delivered to your home address via UPS, with a UPS return label and a list of UPS return locations near you.

Books can also be returned to any University System of Georgia library.

Books are checked out to your GIL account on the day they are shipped. The original due date is six weeks from the date of shipment for undergraduates, or the end of the current semester for graduate students.

Two online renewals are available through your GIL account for books not requested by another patron.

There is no charge for this service, but regular recall and overdue policies and fine rates apply. Books returned via UPS should be received at GSU by their due dates to avoid an overdue status. Books returned to another University System of Georgia library are removed from your GIL record on the date of return.
