Affiliates

Must have a GSU PantherCard and a letter on departmental letterhead, stating that the patron currently works for the department. The letter must be presented to the User Services desk (Library North building, 1st floor, Atlanta campus) every semester for circulation and computer privileges. Checkout privileges depend on length of time affiliate is on campus.

ARCHE

  • Check out up to 5 books at a time by showing your ARCHE borrower card (issue by your home institution library) at check out. For loan period & fine information, ask at check out.
  • No Interlibrary Loan or GIL Express service.
  • May use visitor computers for up to 1 hour per day.
  • May also use resources at affiliated libraries.

Emory Students/Faculty/Staff

  • Check out up to 25 books for 4 weeks at a time with 2 renewals.
  • Show a current Emory ID at check out.
  • No Interlibrary Loan or GIL Express service.
  • May use visitor computers for up to 1 hour per day.

University System of Georgia Students/Faculty/Staff

  • Check out up to 25 books for 4 weeks at a time with 2 renewals.
  • Show your current campus ID from a University System of Georgia institution at check out.
  • No Interlibrary Loan service (ask at home institution).
  • May use a visitor computer by showing a campus ID from the home institution at the User Services Desk-Library North 1st floor, Atlanta campus.

Board of Regents Administrative Staff

Same library privileges as current faculty. Show your Board of Regents ID card at the User Services Desk- Library North 1st floor, Atlanta campus, to check out.

Retired GSU Faculty

Same library privileges as current faculty.

Retired GSU Staff

Same library privileges as current undergraduate students.

Professional Administrative Staff

Same library privileges as current faculty.

State Legislators

Same library privileges as current undergraduate students. Legislators are asked to join the Georgia State Alumni Association in order to obtain a Special Borrowers Card. Ask at a library service desk for details.

Visiting Scholars

Visiting scholars may borrow up to 5 books at a time. The loan period depends on the length of stay at the University.

In order to check out items, a letter from the visiting scholar’s host department must be presented to the User Services Desk-Library North 1st floor, Atlanta campus. If visiting scholars do not have a campus ID, they can use the visitor computers.

Other Visitors, including Alumni

Visitors, including Georgia State alumni, requesting circulation privileges should obtain a Special Borrowers Card from one of the Library’s service desks by showing active membership in the Georgia State Alumni Association, which anyone may join regardless of affiliation.

A Special Borrowers Card provides circulation privileges of up to five (5) books concurrently. The loan period is four (4) weeks.
